“THANK YOU”

May 1, 2020

What is there to say that hasn’t already been said in today’s corona chaotic environment?  Saying “Thank you” seems to be the most appropriate thing to do.

Thank you to all of the people in all walks of life putting their own health at risk serving others!

Thank you all of our employees who have stayed at their posts to ensure that government critical missions worldwide are being performed.

Thank you to those who shared with me their concerns, fears and challenges.  It’s my avocation to be present for you and without you I would not feel complete.

Thank you to the professional advisors who have provided support and guidance to us during these uncharted economic times.

Thank you to our local, state and national leaders for trying to put aside politics to become the statesmen that our great nation needs.  Thank you to those in the limelight who routinely make references to God, prayer and restoration of our great country.

Most important of all, thank you to the man up above who has provided us with this opportunity to focus on the important things in life as we prepare for a greater future and as we become wiser, more empathetic, stronger and more appreciative for all that we have and for each other.  A former rector of my church in Dallas sent me the prayer set out below some time ago and I would like to share it with you:

A PRAYER IN THESE DAYS OF HARSHNESS AND UNCERTAINTY

O God of love, we pray thee to give us love;
Love in our thinking, love in our speaking;
Love in our doing, and love in the hidden places of our souls;
Love of our neighbors near and far;
Love of our friends, old and new;
Love for those we find it hard to bear;
And love for those who find it hard to bear with us;
Love of those with whom we work;
And love of those with whom we take our ease;
Love in joy, love in sorrow;
Love in life and in death;
That so at length we may be worthy to dwell with thee,
Who art eternal love.

Amen
