STILL BELIEVE!

September 1, 2025

We all have dreams.  Sometimes they come true and sometimes they don’t, regardless of how hard we attempt to make them happen.  Life as a government contractor is full of all sorts of challenges, especially when one does not have the funds that major defense contractors have or have access to unlimited resources of people, technology and good old cash.

When the going gets tough, it’s easy to start questioning the merits of the goal versus the pain it takes to get there.  It would be easy to give up hope but then you would certainly fail!  I remind myself daily of Bible stories of people who didn’t believe they could do what they were tasked to do.  Despite delays, legal issues, health challenges, closed doors and all sorts of setbacks, perseverance has paid off for countless people.  I am reading a book that former Department of Defense Air Operations employees presented to me with heartfelt notes in it called the “The Founder’s Bible.” It contains all sorts of stories about how our forefathers, who fought to establish our Country, had to overcome what appeared to be countless hopeless situations.  History is full of stories of many people who so very freely gave of themselves to create companies and inventions which we enjoy the benefits of today.  They, like you and I, at times considered quitting and letting their dreams go but by the grace of God they didn’t and they eventually reached their goals.  Some even exceeded their wildest dreams.

It’s amazing and a true blessing that if we will do our part and painful legwork if it is required, doors will open, the right person will cross our path and dreams will come true.  Sometimes we become “perceptually frozen,” enjoy pity parties and adopt “can’t, won’t and don’t” attitudes, which leads to failure.

I am sharing with others the reality that “what got us here is not what will get us where we want to be.” At King Aerospace our values and principles will not change but the tools in our “toolboxes” will be continually updated and re-calibrated to ensure we deliver what we profess.  Often I remind myself that in every challenge there is a learning opportunity and a blessing even when there appears to be none.  One of the universal truths is that we each must decide if we want to just survive in life or thrive.  For me, service to God, Country and Family (my family and yours as well) is a true blessing that makes even the most painful days worthwhile.  There are no excuses for not giving your very best, even when it hurts. Take it from someone who started on “a wing and prayer” and is still “funded on faith:” I elect to still believe, by the grace of God.

If you want to read a thought-provoking book, read “What Got You Here Won’t Get You There” by Marshall Goldsmith.  It made me think!
