King Aerospace’s extensive array of services to support both highly specialized government and military aircraft and sophisticated corporate and VIP aircraft is the focus of a feature this month in Aviation International News.
The article, “King Aerospace Offers the Best of All Worlds,” highlights how the company has carved out a unique position in the aviation maintenance, repair, paint and refurbishment marketplace by combining military precision, business aviation responsiveness and a deeply rooted culture of servant leadership.
The overlap between government, military and private aviation has become one of King Aerospace’s greatest strengths, Chief Operating Officer Sam Jackson tells AIN. “This isn’t a segment of the aviation maintenance world that you just want to jump into,” he adds. “Customers expect no issues, no faults, no discrepancies. They expect a perfect aircraft rolling out.”
Ron Soret, senior director for special projects, notes this crossover is especially evident in King Aerospace’s “Road Show,” a dedicated team that travels to customer locations to support specialized aircraft projects.
“Besides the mechanical, structural and avionics skills needed for the majority of the programs,” Soret says, “we also have to be able to draw from some of our [business aviation] resources to work on interiors and maintaining some of these VIP aircraft assets that belong to our government.”
Recent “Road Show” assignments have required King Aerospace technicians to move seamlessly between major structural repairs on military platforms and high-end interior refurbishment work on VIP aircraft operated by the U.S. government.
The article also cites King Aerospace’s strong reputation in the Boeing Business Jet community, with Jackson noting the company counts more than 60% of the total U.S. BBJ market among its customers.
“We ensure that they have a reliable and quality aircraft, and we also help them see what might be coming down the road,” he says. “That helps them operate their fleets not only safely, but also efficiently.”
That also means helping BBJ operators not only maintain safe and reliable aircraft, but to plan ahead for service bulletins, regulatory requirements, upgrades and long-term operational needs.
For example, King Aerospace holds an annual BBJ Operators Forum that brings together operators, pilots, maintainers and technology providers to discuss maintenance issues, operational challenges and future aircraft upgrades.
“Anytime you can get a group of people together who have a common theme in any realm of life that you can learn from someone else, it’s always a good thing,” Jackson says.
While King Aerospace is known for aircraft maintenance, repair, interior refurbishment and premier paint services, Founder and President Jerry King emphasizes the company has a much larger mission.
“Our job is to make a significant difference in the lives of others,” he says. “We just happen to work on airplanes.”
That philosophy is reflected in “King Kulture,” centered on making a positive difference for employees, customers and everyone the company encounters. “It’s not about sales or growth,” King adds, “but about living the principles and values we profess.”
King Aerospace’s ability to combine deep technical expertise with flexibility also remains a defining advantage. “Our goal is to stay hungry and humble at the same time,” Jackson says. “You get to the size of [the country’s largest aerospace and defense companies] and you’re not near as nimble as you once were.
“Well, we are that little guy,” he concludes. “The Titanic can’t avoid an iceberg, but we’re that 27-foot Mercury with two 250s on the back. We can zip around an iceberg pretty quick.”
